PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Hiller’s grocery store will become the set of a high-fashion photo shoot next week as StyleLine Magazine models strike a pose in flowery summer dresses alongside gleaming fresh fruits and vegetables for its June issue. Shoppers, community members and gawkers alike are invited to witness glamour in action on Tuesday, March 31st from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Hiller’s Market in Plymouth (15455 Haggerty Road at 5 Mile). Detroit’s newest fashion magazine, “StyleLine’s focus is local,” says editor Karen Buscemi. “Our models and photographers are local, and everything featured in our pages is available here in metro Detroit. Hiller’s has been serving the Detroit community for many years and we’re hoping to highlight its dedication to community and to Michigan in our June cover photo shoot.” Produced by Signature Media, a division of the Detroit Media Partnership, Styleline is a glossy monthly fashion book celebrating Detroit style. Hiller’s has been a community anchor since 1941. Its seven stores represent the communities they serve and its service, selection and quality are unparalleled in southeast Michigan. Dedicated to promoting Michigan companies, Hiller’s indicates mitten-state products with special shelf tags in every aisle and features Michigan companies on every page of its biweekly circular. A recent first-of-its-kind Michigan Foods Fair at the company’s Union Lake store drew thousands of shoppers over two days. The fashion photo shoot will take place in the beautiful produce section of the Plymouth Hiller’s, which was carefully designed by CEO Jim Hiller to be an architectural statement of the company’s high ideals. Alongside the models will be Hiller’s usual spectacular array of produce – both expected and hard-to-find, including the soon-to-appear exotic, sweet Kiku apple. “I often notice women who wear beautiful shoes,” jokes Jim Hiller, who is most comfortable in his own bright-red Converse chucks with comfy jeans and a custom-made blazer. “That’s about the extent of my fashion knowledge. But ask me about oysters, Creekstone steaks or a rare fruit like durian, and I’m your man!” Hiller’s stores are located in Ann Arbor, Berkley, West Bloomfield, Commerce Township, Union Lake, Northville and Plymouth. Hiller’s specializes in catering to a wide variety of specialty palates, including Southeast Michigan’s most extensive selection of Japanese and British foods, gluten-free products and kosher items.
