NO MONKEY BUSINESS HERE - WE’RE WILD ABOUT LASAGNA |
March 23, 2010 – Hiller's Markets to donate 100% of the profits from their prepared Wild Vegetable Lasagna to the Detroit Zoo during April.
Take a walk on the wild side! As part of Hiller’s Markets Good Deeds in the Making program to benefit local charities during these challenging economic times, the family-owned chain of seven metro Detroit grocery stores will proudly donate 100% of the profits from the sales of its popular Wild Vegetable Lasagna to the Detroit Zoo throughout the month of April.
This delectable, ready-to-serve dish is prepared with layers of al dente pasta filled with a mélange of freshly sautéed vegetables, five different cheeses and creamy Alfredo sauce. It is available in all of Hiller’s Markets’ prepared food departments for $4.98 per pound.
“We’re grateful to Hiller’s for providing a way for the community to enjoy healthy and delicious food while helping the Zoo,” said Detroit Zoo Executive Director Ron Kagan.
Hiller’s Good Deeds in the Making program was created last year as a way to inspire consumers to purchase high-quality, ready-to-eat, great-tasting meals while helping good causes in their communities. This month’s charity, The Detroit Zoo, features over 125 acres of naturalistic exhibits and houses over 1,500 animals. The Detroit Zoo, Michigan’s largest family attraction with over one million visitors annually, is open 362 days a year.
"Not only people are suffering from the depressed Michigan economy; our animal friends are hurting, too,” said CEO Jim Hiller. “The Detroit Zoo is a worthy and important component of the Metro Detroit community. Hiller's is proud to make the Zoo a beneficiary of our Good Deeds Program and partner with them to raise much-needed funds to maintain the current quality of the Zoo."
