March 28, 2011 – Profits from Beeler sausages raise money for April’s Good Deeds in the Making
Hiller’s Good Deeds in the Making program for the month of April will raise money for Sparky Anderson’s CATCH charity, an organization started by the late Detroit Tigers manager to improve the quality of life for pediatric patients at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Henry Ford Hospital. All profits from Beeler’s natural casing Bratwurst sold at the Hiller’s deli counter for $5.29 per pound will be donated to CATCH. "Hiller's and CATCH have a great reputation of helping those in need, so it makes perfect sense for us to team up for the Good Deeds in the Making program," said Jim Hughes, executive director of CATCH, which was founded in 1987. "We’re able to put the dollars raised for CATCH to provide items and services that help improve the quality of life for sick, injured and needy pediatric patients." For Hiller’s, the collaboration with CATCH is an opportunity to help continue Anderson’s charitable legacy. “When walking the path of life, there are few people one meets who are spoken of with such love and reverence as Sparky Anderson was,” said Jim Hiller, president and CEO. “It is a privilege that Hiller’s is involved in a cause so near and dear to Sparky’s heart.” About CATCH CATCH is a children's charity that was founded in 1987 by then Detroit Tigers Manager Sparky Anderson. CATCH raises funds to provide a current and future source of revenue to help improve the quality of life for sick, injured and at-risk pediatric patients who receive care from Children's Hospital of Michigan and Henry Ford Hospital. Included is the CATCH Pediatric Mobile Health Programs that provide basic health services for Detroit children who experience barriers to accessing health care.
