Hiller's Markets Receives 2010 Best of Southfield Award for service to the community
August 30, 2010 – tellusdetroit.com – Hiller's Markets has been selected for the 2010 Best of Southfield Award in the Independent Supermarkets category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).

The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Hiller’s Markets Vice President Justin Hiller was thrilled that Hiller’s received the award. “It is a long standing tradition of Hiller’s to help local businesses and causes, and to be involved in the community. We consider our customers as family and we appreciate being recognized for our efforts.”

Hiller’s community programs include Good Deeds in the Making, created to inspire customers to purchase high-quality, ready-to-eat meals with profits benefitting local charities. Recent Good Deed recipients include the Detroit Zoo, local American Red Cross, Salvation Army of Metro Detroit, Camp Casey and ALS of Michigan. Hiller’s also partners with many charities and also runs the Scrip fund-raising program which benefits many charities, schools, churches and synagogues.

In addition to charity-work, helping customers with food allergies and sensitivities is a top priority for the market. Hiller’s has the largest selection of gluten-free foods out of any supermarket in the country and also clearly labels gluten-free foods, nut-free foods and low-sodium foods throughout its stores.

Promoting Michigan is a passion of the Hiller’s team, and Michigan-grown and produced foods are proudly showcased in all seven stores. Hiller’s Markets also regularly hosts Made-in-Michigan fairs to highlight the great products created in the state.

*Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2010 USCA Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties. U.S. Commerce Association (USCA) is a New York City based organization funded by local businesses operating in towns, large and small, across America. The purpose of USCA is to promote local business through public relations, marketing and advertising and it was established to recognize the best of local businesses in a community.
