The donations are a part of Hillers Markets' Good Deeds in the Making program, which benefits local charities during these challenging economic times. Hillers is a family owned chain that has seven grocery stores in metro Detroit.

The program was created last year to inspire consumers to purchase ready-to-eat meals while helping causes in their communities. The Southeastern Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross helps families deal with disasters, such as house fires and floods. Last year, local American Red Cross volunteers helped over 300 disaster victims. The organization provides assistance to military families and runs blood banks.

The fresh pasta dish, which includes al dente pasta shells tossed with premium albacore white tuna and diced vegetables lightly seasoned in a creamy dressing, is unique to Hillers. The dish retails for $5.98 per pound.

Markets are located in Ann Arbor, Berkley, Commerce Township, Northville, Plymouth, Union Lake and West Bloomfield.
