Hiller’s Donates Salad Profits to ALS Research
August 2, 2010 – Progressive Grocer – As part of Hiller’s Markets “Good Deeds in the Making” program to benefit Michigan-based charities, the family-owned metro Detroit store chain will donate 100 percent of the profits from sales of its popular Chopped Fresh Salad to ALS of Michigan during August.

Good Deeds in the Making was created last year as a way to inspire consumers to purchase high-quality, ready-to-eat meals while helping good causes in their communities. This month’s charity, ALS of Michigan, fights that neuromuscular condition commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

“Having watched my mother ravaged by ALS, I know the value of an organization like ALS of Michigan and its director, Sue Burstein-Kahn,” said Hiller’s CEO Jim Hiller. “During the darkest times, just knowing ALS of Michigan was there to help made all the difference.”
Burstein-Kahn added: “Jim and Hiller’s Markets are huge supporters of our cause, and they have been extremely generous. Words cannot express our gratitude for all they’ve done for Michigan’s ALS community, supporting both research and patient services.”

Southfield, Mich.-based Hiller’s has stores in Ann Arbor, Berkley, Commerce Township, Northville, Plymouth, Union Lake and West Bloomfield.
