HELPING KIDS CONQUER CANCER ONE NEIGH AT A TIME |
April 27, 2010 – Hiller's Markets to donate 100% of profits from prepared Wild Rice Chicken Salad to Camp Casey during May!
Pony up for charity! As part of Hiller’s Markets Good Deeds in the Making program to benefit local charities during these challenging economic times, the family-owned chain of seven metro Detroit grocery stores will proudly donate 100% of the profits from the sales of its popular Wild Rice Chicken Salad to Camp Casey, a horseback riding program for kids with cancer, during the month of May. This delectable, ready-to-serve dish is prepared with wild rice pilaf mixed with julienned grilled chicken, green onion and slivered almonds. It is available in all of Hiller’s Markets’ prepared food departments for $5.98 per pound.
“Hiller’s is a staple in the communities we serve,” said Camp Casey Executive Director Molly Melamed, who founded the 501c3 organization while attending Michigan State University. “We are honored they would choose to partner with Camp Casey to help our growing organization reach more kids conquering cancer.”
Hiller’s Good Deeds in the Making program was created last year as a way to inspire consumers to purchase high-quality, ready-to-eat, great-tasting meals while helping good causes in their communities. This month’s charity, Camp Casey, is a non-profit horseback riding program for families in Michigan facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Now in its seventh year, all of Camp Casey’s services are cost-free to participants.
"Getting sick kids well sometimes takes more than medicine,” said Jim Hiller, CEO of Hiller’s Markets. “Camp Casey provides an experience that gives children and their families a querencia from the daily pain of cancer treatment. Hiller's is proud to support them in their efforts."
