September 30, 2010 – Hiller’s Markets Good Deeds program, where tasty and nutritious ready-prepared dishes are sold at the deli counter to benefit local charities during these challenging economic times, will benefit Gilda’s Club this October.
Delicious and healthy Italian Bean Salad, which is high in fiber, will be sold with 100 percent of the profits going to Gilda’s Club, a charity which provides free support to people who are living with cancer. The salad contains Great Northern beans, homemade red wine vinaigrette and fresh garlic. It will sell at $3.98 a pound at all seven of the metro Detroit Hiller’s stores.Justin Hiller, vice-president of Hiller’s Markets, said: “Hiller's is proud to partner with Gilda's Club, in an effort to increase support and awareness for people affected by cancer. We know that Gilda’s Club makes a real difference in people’s lives when they are going through a tough time.” In addition, Hiller’s Markets is collaborating with the American Cancer Society during Breast Cancer Awareness month to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. Paper cancer ribbon cards will be sold at all registers for the ACS’s Wall of Hope. The cards say, “I am creating a world with more birthdays and less breast cancer” and will be sold in increments of $1, $3 and $5. Donations can be made in honor or in memory of someone and the cards will be displayed in all Hiller’s stores. |
