October 19, 2010 – Hiller's Markets to donate 100% of the profits from their popular Polly's Baked Spaghetti to U of M Comprehensive Cancer Center during November.
As part of Hiller’s Markets Good Deeds in the Making program to benefit local charities during these challenging economic times, the family-owned chain of seven metro Detroit grocery stores will proudly donate 100% of the profits from the sales of its popular Polly’s Baked Spaghetti to the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center throughout the month of November. This homemade baked spaghetti is prepared with the finest meat sauce and baked to a golden brown with a delectable six-cheese topping. The product retails for $4.98 per pound at all Hiller's locations.Hiller’s Good Deeds in the Making program was created last year as a way to inspire consumers to purchase high-quality, ready-to-eat, great-tasting meals while helping good causes in their communities. This month’s charity, U of M Comprehensive Cancer Center, is dedicated to the conquest of cancer through innovation and collaboration. Hiller’s donation will benefit UMCC in support of Dr. Elizabeth Lawlor’s work. Since 2004, Dr. Lawlor has led her own research group, focusing on studies of pediatric cancers, such as Ewing’s Sarcoma, a very aggressive bone and soft tissue tumor that primarily affects children, adolescents and young adults. “As a company, we’re staunchly committed to aiding cancer research.” Justin Hiller, vice president of Hiller’s Markets, said. “Unfortunately, nearly everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another, but I am hopeful that won’t be the case for future generations. Dr. Lawlor’s work brings us one step closer to that goal.” |
