The Good Deeds in the Making program introduces new dishes every week in the prepared foods department of every Hiller’s store. 100% of profits from sales of these dishes go to local charities chosen by the person for whom the dish is named. “So many people are in need now, in these trying times,” says Jim Hiller, CEO and owner of the family grocery that has been a community anchor for nearly 70 years. “We can’t solve all the problems of our community – but together, we can certainly make a significant difference. This is how friends help each other – and reinvigorate our community.” Through October 19, four dishes will help local causes. Try Tony Fayne’s Buffalo Chili and Samira Cholagh’s potato chop, kibbie and eggplant salad.100% of profits from sales of Buffalo Chili will go to benefit the Agree Foundation at Temple Israel, giving birthday parties to children of battered and homeless mothers. 100% of profits from sales of potato chop, kibbie and eggplant salad will go to the Chaldean Foundation’s Adopt a Refugee Family Program, helping Iraqi refugees resettle safely in America.
